Easter Chick Coffee Kozie

Yes, I have been on a coffee Kozie kick.  Last night it dawned on me that I need an Easter chick Kozie to go with my bunny.  :)

What you will need:
H hook
G hook
Worsted weight yarn.  (I used yellow, orange, and black)
Scissors
Yarn needle

Abbreviations:
ch-chain
sl-st-slip stitch
st/st's-stitch/stitches
sc-single crochet
hdc-half double crochet
rsc-reverse single crochet

Special stitch:
Reverse single crochet (rsc):  Working left to right, work single crochet into last stitch worked.

Ch 28
Sl st to first ch to form ring.  Do not twist.
Round 1: Ch 1, hdc each ch around.  (28 hdc)
Round 2-4: Repeat round 1
Round 5: Ch 1, [hdc in  next 13 st, 2 hdc in next st.]  Repeat 1 more time.  (30 hdc)
Round 6: Ch 1, hdc in each st around.  (30 hdc)

Round 7: Ch 1, rsc in each st around.  (30 rsc)
Fasten off.

Flip your work over to work around the bottom of the Kozie.

Join yarn with a sl st to the chain row.
Ch 1, rsc in each chain around.  Sl st to first rsc.  (28 rsc)
Fasten off and weave in ends.

Eyes Make 2
Using black yarn and G hook
Make a Magic circle
Ch 1, 8sc in circle, join with first sc.
Fasten off leaving long tail.  Pull circle closed and secure, and weave in end. 

Beak
Using orange yarn and G hook
Ch 2, sc in 2nd ch from hook.  Ch 1, turn
2 sc in first sc.  Ch 1, turn
2 sc in each sc across.  Ch 1, turn
2 sc in first st, 1 sc in next 2 st’s, 2 sc in last st.
Fasten off leaving a long tail for sewing.  Weave in the end from the beginning ch.


Sew both eyes and beak onto the front of the Kozie.

Cut a few short lengths of yellow yarn and attach them to the top of the Kozie for the "feathers" on top.
